Get ready to experience authentic Mediterranean flavours right in the heart of Johannesburg.

Hey foodies, there’s a brand-new spot to add to your must-visit list.
Akti restaurant has expanded its footprint with a new branch at Omni Square, bringing its beloved Mediterranean flavours to the southern suburbs of Joburg. Known for its Greek ownership and Mediterranean-inspired menu, Akti serves a mix of pastries, tapas, pizzas, pastas, and hearty meat dishes.
The move is great news for residents in the south of Gauteng, who can now enjoy authentic Mediterranean cuisine without travelling to the other parts of the city.
Located in Bassonia, an upmarket, quiet suburb known for its modern homes and sought-after lifestyle, Omni Square itself is also a fresh addition to the area, having opened in the late 2025. The retail centre already features a strong lineup of stores, including grocery anchors like Checkers and Clicks, alongside outlets such as Flight Centre, McDonald’s, and KFC, among many others.
With the arrival of Akti, the square is expected to draw even more visitors eager for a premium dining experience.
Before this opening, Akti operated from Bedford Centre in Bedfordview and also established a popular branch at The Zone in Rosebank. The restaurant has built a loyal following for its indulgent pastas, flavour-packed tapas, and comforting Mediterranean classics that keep diners coming back.
The Bassonia branch officially opened on 9 February, and social media has already been buzzing with excitement.
So, Joburgers, if you’re in the southern suburbs and looking for a fresh dining destination, Akti at Omni Square might just be your next favourite spot.
