After electrifying stops in Cape Town and Durban, the Red Bull Half Court South Africa 2025 tour hits Pretoria on Saturday, 23 August, offering Gauteng ballers their last shot at streetball glory and a chance to represent South Africa on the world stage in New York City.

What is Red Bull Half Court?

Red Bull Half Court is no ordinary tournament. This fast-paced, high-stakes 3x3 basketball event is built for the bold. Games are short, 10 minutes or first to 21 points, and every bucket counts. The format rewards both hustle and flair, with the “Own the Court” bonus favouring the highest-scoring teams, not just those who win.

A brand-new twist spices up the game further: 3-point hotspots beyond the arc offer big rewards for brave shooters ready to light it up.

The Gauteng Qualifier: What you need to know

The Gauteng Qualifier for Red Bull Half Court South Africa takes place on Saturday, 23 August 2025, at the University of Pretoria. Players must check in at least 90 minutes before tip-off, so arrive early and ready to compete. Teams can register online via the official Red Bull Half Court website, but spots are limited, so act fast.

To qualify, each team must consist of three to four players, with a minimum age of 16. At least three players must be South African residents, and no substitutions are allowed on game day, so make sure your full squad is locked in. This is your final chance to secure a spot in the SA National Final, so don’t miss out. Bring the energy, bring the hustle, and get ready to own the court.

Why this tournament matters

More than a competition, Red Bull Half Court celebrates streetball culture, from the blacktop courts of Soweto to the playgrounds of the Bronx. It’s about community, creativity, and raw talent. Expect swagger, trash talk, and highlight-worthy moments as Gauteng’s best hoopers go head-to-head.

The winning team from Pretoria advances to the South African National Final on 13 September 2025 at Wits University in Johannesburg. From there, it’s all eyes on the World Final in New York City, with flights and expenses fully covered.
