One of Johannesburg’s most loved restaurants, Cyra, located at The Houghton Hotel, is revamping its menu to welcome the new season.
Cyra took to Instagram this week to share a video announcing that they are transitioning their kitchen to add new flavours better suited to the autumn season. In the video, the award-winning resident chef Candice Philip is seen hard at work behind the stove, cooking a meal with vegetables, melting chocolate and cutting a huge chunk of meat. There are also baked goodies on display - a promising glimpse of what’s to come on the new menu.

The restaurant is known for taking guests on a culinary ride and creating dishes that are colourful, full of texture, and beautifully plated.
Last year, Cyra unveiled its spring menu, which featured colourful dishes. It also unveiled a new lunch offering from Thursday to Sunday.
Although the restaurant is still quite new to the Johannesburg dining scene, it has been receiving lots of love on social media. The restaurant has won several awards over the past year. Last year, it received two plates in the JHB Gourmet Guide Awards. Chef Candice Philip was named Chef of the Year at the Luxe Restaurant Awards, while Cyra was named Best New Restaurant at the Eat Out Awards.
This is not the first time the restaurant has unveiled a new menu to welcome a new season. In spring, the restaurant released a seven-course tasting menu after running a four-course menu for a while.
What makes Cyra one of Johannesburg's favourite restaurants is its amazing views, which let guests overlook the greenery beyond and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
