Johannesburg’s nightlife calendar is already shaping up for a strong start to 2026. After sold-out debut shows in 2025, fabric London is returning to South Africa, and once again, Joburg is leading the charge.

The global club institution opens its 2026 run in Johannesburg on Friday, 9 January, followed by a Cape Town edition the next night. The new shows build on fabric’s growing relationship with South Africa, featuring larger productions, expanded line-ups and a renewed focus on collaboration with local scenes.

In Johannesburg, fabric partners with respected techno promoters TOYTOY for a three-floor takeover of AND Club and Carfax, placing the event right in the heart of the city’s inner-city club circuit. The multi-room format allows the night to move fluidly between sounds, a fitting reflection of Joburg’s genre-blurring, late-night energy.

International heavyweights Marcel Dettmann, Gerd Janson and Gabrielle Kwarteng headline the night, supported by South African house pioneer Vinny Da Vinci, whose influence on the city’s dance music culture spans decades. The local supporting line-up reads like a snapshot of Joburg’s underground right now, featuring Abby Nurock, Avi Subban, Black Lake, Bongani Zulu, Cornelius SA, Illing, Karmerr, Paulo Lundall, Sanetran, Sir LSG and Transmicsoul.

Room 2 will be hosted by globally celebrated queer collective HE.SHE.THEY., bringing their inclusive, genre-fluid programming and commitment to safer spaces, a natural fit for Johannesburg’s evolving club culture.

Cape Town’s edition follows on Saturday, 10 January, when fabric takes over the Castle of Good Hope, transforming the historic landmark into an immersive electronic music venue with large-scale projection mapping. Disco favourites Horse Meat Disco headline, supported by a diverse local line-up.

According to Richard Marshall, Director of Sub Sahara and fabric’s partner on the continent, the 2026 shows represent a deeper collaboration with South African artists and spaces. “The line-ups truly showcase the depth and diversity of South Africa’s electronic music talent,” he says. “These shows combine fabric’s 25-year legacy with the creativity and energy of local scenes.”

For Johannesburg, fabric’s return feels less like a tour stop and more like a statement, one that reinforces the city’s place on the global club map.

Tickets are on sale now via Resident Advisor and Howler, with both shows expected to sell fast.
