Travelling between Joburg and Harare just got easier. From 29 September 2025, Fastjet is introducing a brand-new early morning flight on its popular Johannesburg–Harare route, offering more flexibility for business and leisure travellers.

The new service will depart OR Tambo International Airport at 06:55am, and land in Harare at 08:40am, every day except Saturday. The return flight leaves Harare at 7:00pm and arrives in Joburg by 8:50pm, making it possible to fly in for a full day of meetings or exploration and still return home the same evening.

Fastjet Zimbabwe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Vivian Ruwuya, said the new frequency was introduced to meet growing demand: “Our fastjet flight FN8220 now allows our customers an early morning departure from Johannesburg, resulting in a full business day in Harare.”

Spokesperson Nunurai Ndawana added, “Aviation is a catalyst for economic development. We believe our morning service will contribute to the smooth movement of businesspeople, strengthening trade relations between Johannesburg and Harare.”

The flights will be operated on Fastjet’s trusted Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, and tickets are already available for booking.

More flexibility on a popular route
The Johannesburg–Harare corridor is one of the busiest in Southern Africa. This extra frequency gives travellers more options to plan around meetings, events, or personal trips.

Convenient timings
Early morning arrivals in Harare mean you hit the ground running, while evening departures let you maximise your day before flying home.

Strengthening regional ties
The service isn’t just about convenience; it’s also designed to boost trade, tourism, and cultural connections between South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Operated by Fastjet’s Embraer ERJ145
Reliable and well-suited for short-haul regional flights, this aircraft ensures a smooth journey on the 1-hour 45-minute route.
