Pizza lovers, rejoice—Cape Town’s famous NY Slice has landed in Parkhurst. The pizzeria quietly opened its doors on 21 August but celebrated its official launch this past weekend, bringing its oversized, New York–style slices to Joburg for the first time.
Speaking to Time Out Johannesburg, the restaurant's manager, Gavyn Blackler, says Joburgers who can't resist a slice of good pizza are in for a treat because the pizzeria, which is famous for its enormous pizzas, is ready to satisfy your cravings.
"The size is the main thing that makes us different," shares Gavyn. Each pizza measures a whopping 50cm in diameter.

The manager says that the restaurant's popularity has been due to the quality of the pizza it sells and the unique New York flavour.
"We always use fresh, good-quality ingredients," says Gavyn.
NY Slice Pizza was started by Mark Francis, a South African accountant working in Manhattan. He fell in love with the taste of New York pizzas and brought them home. He opened the first branch on Kloof Street in Cape Town in 2013. Since then, the pizzeria has grown to several branches in the Mother City, and now Johannesburg also has a taste!
The manager says that since opening its doors over the past few days, Joburgers have chosen the 'New York style Pepperoni' as a favourite.
What is exciting about the pizzeria is that customers can choose to buy a slice instead of a small, large, or medium pizza.
"The cheapest slice is R43 and the most expensive pizza is roughly R400," says Gavyn.
"The menu caters to meat-lovers, vegetarians and vegans," he adds.

Operating hours:
Sunday - Wednesday from 10 am until midnight.
Thursday - Saturday from 10 am until 2:00 am.
