Trust me, as essential as these items are, they’re very easy to forget, especially when you’re excited about your getaway or hotel stay.

From time to time, we all find ourselves needing to sleep away from home. Whether it’s that long-awaited vacation you’ve been planning all year, a work trip that takes you out of your province, a family getaway with the kids, or simply a chance to refuel and recharge in a new environment, hotel stays are a big part of the experience.

Hotels do their best to make their offering as comfortable and convenient as possible. Many offer essentials like toiletries, kettles for tea, mini bar fridges, and even extra blankets neatly stored in cupboards. Because of this convenience, it becomes quite easy to forget to pack a few important items.

Here are five essential things you might easily forget - but definitely shouldn’t:

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

It’s surprisingly easy to forget your toothbrush and toothpaste. While hotels usually provide basics like lotion, and shampoo, toothbrushes aren’t always guaranteed. Many people (myself included!) have fallen victim to this. Save yourself the inconvenience of having to buy one -pack it in advance.

Personal Toiletries and Soap

Some hotels only provide body wash instead of bar soap. If you prefer using soap, be sure to bring your own. The same goes for your skincare products, don’t forget your face wash, creams, or any specific items you rely on daily.

Chargers and Adapters

You might have your phone, laptop, or power bank with you, but forgetting the charger or cable is more common than you think. Also, not all hotel plugs are compatible with your devices. Packing a universal adapter or a twin plug can save you a lot of frustration.

Extension Cord

Hotel plug points aren’t always conveniently located. You might find one near the bed, but not near the desk where you need to work. An extension cord gives you flexibility and makes your stay much more comfortable.

Reusable Water Bottle

Most hotels provide only one or two small bottles of water. If you tend to drink more, having your own reusable bottle is a smart move. Some hotels even have water refill stations, making it easy to stay hydrated throughout your stay.

 Bonus Tip:

While some hotel rooms provide irons and hairdryers, this isn’t always guaranteed. If you prefer using your own or want to avoid requesting one from reception, consider packing them as well.
