As devastating floods leave a trail of destruction across Limpopo and Mpumalanga, Joburg is stepping up to help. After a week of heavy rain displaced thousands and cut off vital services, Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels has jumped into action. They’ve just launched Project Flood Relief, a massive multi-day drive to get emergency support to the families who need it most, and here is how you can get involved.

Running from Wednesday, 21 January, to Sunday, 25 January 2026, the initiative, delivered in partnership with Lions Clubs and Gift of the Givers, combines on-air, digital, and community-led efforts to collect urgent relief supplies and financial donations.

The flooding, which was declared a National Disaster, has caused widespread damage to homes and infrastructure, leaving many residents in immediate need of essentials such as food, clean water, and hygiene supplies. Project Flood Relief focuses on addressing these urgent needs while mobilising listeners and communities to take practical action.

How you can help

Members of the public are encouraged to donate essential items, including:

  • Non-perishable food

Drop-offs close on Sunday, 25 January, after which collections and distribution of supplies will take place in the affected areas.

For Johannesburg residents looking to make a tangible difference beyond city borders, Project Flood Relief offers a direct way to support communities in urgent need, proving once again that when South Africans mobilise, help travels fast. So spread the word to your networks and help amplify support.
