Good news for Joburgers, especially those who like to shop: A new retail hub will open in 2026.

Central Park City, Joburg's latest development addition, will feature a retail centre where you can shop for groceries, everyday essentials, and more.

The hub has some of Mzansi's biggest stores, including Pick 'n Pay and Clicks.

Speaking to Time Out Johannesburg, estate agent Patience Manaba says the estate will offer convenience and modern living.

"The apartments and stores are still under construction, and we expect our first occupants 12 months from now," said Patience.

Central Park City estate is located northwest of the city centre, within the Newlands/Sophiatown area.

The estate is being developed by Urban Dev Property Development, which specialises in affordable housing and student accommodation.

The estate is ideal for first-time buyers and young professionals, and the apartments start at R595,000.

The modern apartments have Wi-Fi installed and are also the ideal location for students. The estate is less than 10 kilometres from the University of Johannesburg and other nearby institutions.

It is also developed with convenience in mind, offering an on-site crèche and aftercare centre.

Gym fanatics are not left behind. There is a cool outdoor gym to ensure you remain fit.

Other amenities include a clubhouse where you can chill with your friends and loved ones or host an event, sports courts and braai areas.

Little ones can enjoy playing at the parks, and there is also a playground to ensure children can have endless fun.
