Joburg’s favourite malls are turning up the holiday spirit with extended trading hours - giving shoppers even more time to find the perfect gifts, browse their favourite stores, or simply soak in the festive energy.
From twinkling décor to family-friendly activities, malls across the city have pulled out all the stops to make this festive season feel magical, so not only will you enjoy later shopping, but you can also unwind and make special memories while at it.
Mall of Africa
If you’re in and around Midrand, or looking for a big festive shopping experience, the largest mall on the continent is ready to welcome you. Mall of Africa is giving shoppers plenty of extra time to enjoy the over 300 stores it has to offer.
5–18 December: The mall will stay open until 21:00, giving shoppers just a little more time to grab that outfit, gadget, or enjoy a delicious meal at one of its restaurants.
19–23 December: The mall will stay open until 22:00, perfect for those post-work shopping trips.
24 December: The mall will open from 09:00–18:00, ideal for the last-minute Christmas shopping.
25 December: Trading hours will differ from store to store, so it’s best to check ahead before you go.
26–30 December: The mall goes back to normal hours: 09:00–20:00.
31 December: The mall will open from 09:00–18:00 as everyone prepares for New Year’s celebrations.
1 January: The mall will open from 09:00–14:00.
Rosebank Mall
If you love the trendy, stylish atmosphere of Rosebank Mall, you’re in luck. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed shopping day and to enjoy festive magic around every corner. The mall has extended its trading hours, giving shoppers plenty of time to shop fashion, accessories, food, and festive décor.
Monday–Friday: 09:00–19:00
Saturday: 09:00–18:00
Sundays & Public Holidays: 09:00–17:00
Sandton City Shopping Centre
For those seeking a more upscale festive experience, Sandton City is ready to meet you at your point of need. Expect longer hours, more time to explore luxury stores, and all the festive sparkle you’d expect from one of Joburg’s most iconic shopping destinations.
5–14 December: The mall will open from 09:00–20:00.
15–23 December: The mall will open from 09:00–21:00, giving you even more time to shop in the evening.
24 December: The mall will open from 09:00–18:00 for your final festive errands.
25 December & 1 January: The mall will have optional trading hours, so best to check with individual stores before you head out.
