Lift is enhancing its onboard experience through a new partnership with Siyathemba Catering, bringing passengers meals made from 100% locally sourced ingredients.

From the moment you check in to the time you settle into your seat, every part of the travel journey matters. For many passengers, the in-flight menu is more than just a meal, it’s part of the overall experience. Recognising this, Lift has announced a new partnership with Siyathemba Catering, a proudly majority women-owned business that uses 100% locally sourced ingredients to raise the standard of the in-flight experience.
The announcement, made on Thursday, 9 April, signals a strong commitment to not only enhancing onboard dining but also to supporting local producers. By working with Siyathemba Catering, Lift is ensuring that every meal served reflects quality, and local flavour.
Founded in 2009, Siyathemba Catering is known for its thoughtfully curated menus, including seasonal offerings such as a vibrant summer collection featuring colourful presentation. Passengers can expect meals that are not only delicious but also carefully crafted with attention to detail.
“We’re genuinely excited to be partnering with LIFT and to be part of shaping a more memorable inflight experience. For us, it’s about the small details- thoughtful presentation, care in every element, and creating a seamless service that passengers can truly feel. Together, we want to make each journey not just comfortable, but something people remember and enjoy,” Siyathemba Catering's CEO, Sonette Joubert, said in a statement.
According to Lift’s onboard product specialist, the partnership aligns with the airline’s goal of delivering a premium yet accessible flying experience.
“At LIFT, we have always been committed to providing an enhanced travel experience for our passengers. Through these partnerships, we ensure that every preference is considered, from our revamped and refined Premium catering, to indulgent sweet treats and carefully curated teas. Collaborating with these brands allows us to offer a fresh and engaging approach to onboard dining, all aimed at elevating the flying experience,” Ryno Mocke, Onboard Product Specialist at LIFT, said in a statement.
When it comes to drinks, Lift has partnered with Dilmah to offer a selection of black teas and herbal infusions, perfect for a calming, relaxing flight. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy treats from Krispy Kreme, while snack lovers can indulge in a variety of light bites from Biscoff biccies.
As South Africa’s first fully flexible airline, Lift continues to redefine modern travel by blending convenience with thoughtful experiences.
