It's official - Mango Airlines has closed its voucher verification portal. The portal was used by customers who had previously bought tickets or vouchers but could not use them because the business had ceased operations.

In June, the airline announced it would soon return to the skies, provided that it successfully finalises a transaction with a selected investor. The success of the transaction would also allow it to compensate consumers who had fully paid for tickets but could not use them.

Consumers were given until 1 September to verify their tickets and see if they are eligible for compensation.

"Thank you to all our valued customers who verified their unflown Mango Airlines tickets and vouchers before the 01 September deadline. The verification portal is now officially closed," the airline announced on X on Thursday.

After years of financial strife, Mango Airlines stopped operations in July 2021, leaving many travelers stranded with unused tickets and vouchers.

After four years of closure, hope was rekindled when Mango promised consumers that if all went well with its investor, it would give them a voucher equal to the value of their previous unused ticket value. The ticket would be usable when Mango resumes flights.

It also announced that if the transaction with the investor was unsuccessful, the unflown ticket would be treated as a "creditor claim in business rescue, and guests will receive a dividend payout that will cover a portion of your total ticket/voucher value."

On Thursday, the airline said it will continue to share updates on the business rescue process. Consumers are urged to look out on their socials and website for updates.
