The Smurfs are coming to town!
For decades, The Smurfs have entertained millions of children around the world, and now Joburgers can meet them in person.
The famous tiny blue friends will be in South Africa for a meet-and-greet to promote their new movie, which premieres in cinemas on Friday, 11 July 2025.
The Smurfs will be at selected Sun International properties, including Carnival City in Johannesburg.
What's great is that the whole experience will be for free.
The meet and greet will be held on Thursday, 17 July 2025, from 16h00 to 19h00, at the Carnival City Ster Kinekor entrance.
Whether you meet them to high-five them or take selfies, one thing is guaranteed: It will be a smurfy good time.
So, if you are still looking for a nice treat for the school holidays, this will definitely do the trick.

More about the movie
The new movie tells the story of Papa Smurf (John Goodman) being mysteriously taken by evil wizards, and Razamel and Gargamel, along with Smurfette (Rihanna), going on a mission into the real world to save him.
The movie features an all-star voice cast including Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
