Flights stay on schedule as OR Tambo adjusts access roads for the high-security summit.

Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport has confirmed that flight operations will continue as usual during the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit. However, travellers should prepare for temporary road closures and changes to airport access from Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
According to the official airport notice, no flight delays or disruptions are expected throughout the summit period. All scheduled domestic and international services will operate as usual, maintaining the regular flow of air traffic. However, the most significant impact for passengers will be managing the altered routes to and from the terminal buildings.
To accommodate the necessary heightened security and logistical requirements for the international event, several crucial routes around the airport will be temporarily restricted:
Airport authorities have emphasised that while flight schedules remain unaffected, these temporary changes may cause some inconvenience. They strongly urge all travellers to allow extra time when heading to the airport.
Users are encouraged to use the ACSA App and the airport's official social media channels for the most current, real-time updates on access routes and any potential diversions. If you're flying through JNB this week, plan ahead and expect a very different route to your gate.
