Joburgers are in for a treat as Pantry by Marble continues to expand its footprint with a brand-new standalone store set to open in Midrand before the end of the year.

The new store will be located next to Mall of Africa, one of the largest shopping centres on the continent. According to Moneyweb, the upcoming store will measure about 1,300 square metres and will reportedly cost around R54 million to develop.

Pantry by Marble is known for offering a premium convenience store experience, where customers can stock up on pantry essentials, grab ready-to-eat meals, and enjoy a curated selection of international favourites.

Shoppers can expect offerings such as:

  • Grab-and-go meals

  • Fresh salads and bowls

  • Local produce

  • Baked goods and pastries

  • Quality coffee

  • Wine and gourmet groceries

The store also features a restaurant, serving popular dishes such as pizza, burgers, and freshly baked treats, making it a favourite for both quick stops and relaxed dining.

Pantry has been around since 2022 and has grown its presence across South Africa with several locations. In Gauteng, there are already branches in Johannesburg and Hazelwood, while a spacious store opened in Bassonia, south of Johannesburg, last year. That location became the retailer’s largest outlet, offering a wider selection of products and unique in-store experiences.

In addition, Pantry opened a pop-up store at Mall of Africa in mid-October last year, giving visitors a chance to sample some of the brand’s popular offerings. The pop-up was expected to run until February, although it is still unclear whether the new standalone store will replace it.

The upcoming Midrand development will reportedly be built on the side of the mall currently used for public transport facilities, which are expected to be relocated to make way for the new space.

The expansion adds another exciting retail destination in Johannesburg - a city already known for its luxury shopping, diverse food scene, and world-class retail experiences. For residents and visitors alike, the new Pantry by Marble store will offer yet another reason to explore the city.
