Private charter airline Air du Cap has officially expanded into Gauteng, now operating flights out of Grand Central Airport in Midrand. The move marks a strategic shift for the Cape Town-based operator, giving Johannesburg travellers easier access to on-demand private flights for both business and leisure.
Centrally located between Sandton and Centurion, Grand Central Airport offers a quieter, more accessible alternative to the city’s larger airports. The location is also well-suited to travellers based in the growing Midrand and Waterfall areas, increasingly popular residential and commercial hubs.
Air du Cap says the Johannesburg launch is aimed at catering to a growing audience of professionals, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and families who value flexibility and time-saving travel solutions. According to the company, these travellers are looking for an elevated yet practical alternative to commercial flying, one that prioritises convenience, efficiency, and comfort.

The airline’s Johannesburg-based fleet includes two Beechcraft Baron aircraft, equipped with air-conditioning, noise-cancelling Bose headsets, hand-stitched leather interiors, and updated avionics systems. Flights can be booked through a digital platform offering instant charter pricing and online reservations, a move the company says is designed to simplify the typically complex process of booking private air travel.
Destinations range from bush lodges to coastal towns and even smaller regional stops like Howick, near Hilton College, positioning the service as an option for everything from business trips and site inspections to school travel or family getaways.
Air du Cap’s expansion into Johannesburg reflects a broader trend in local aviation, where smaller charter services are finding a niche with travellers who want more control over their time, without necessarily opting for ultra-luxury or jet-level spending.
