Johannesburg’s nightlife and entertainment scene is about to get a serious upgrade. After a stellar debut year featuring the viral Shrek Rave and the early-bird favourite Bed by 10 pm, international event maestros Like It Love It are doubling down on the City of Gold.

We caught up with Louis Williamson, Senior Event Coordinator at Like It Love It, to talk about their expanded 2026 calendar, their love for local venues, and why Joburg crowds are simply insane.

From raves to pop parties: Something for Everyone

The 2026 lineup represents a significant expansion for the team, moving beyond traditional nightlife into immersive, concept-driven experiences.

"The energy that the people of Johannesburg brought to our first run of events was insane," says Williamson. "We saw there was a real need for events that were different to what was already going on locally, different experiences and concepts."

That different experience includes the Pink Pop Party, a pivot from the brand’s late-night roots. Designed as a "girly day out" for fans as young as four, it brings the stadium-pop energy of Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan to a family-friendly setting.

"A lot of young people mainly experience their favourite artists’ music at home," Williamson explains. "We wanted to put on something that both kids and parents could genuinely enjoy side by side."

High spectacle and sold-out shows

For those looking for high-octane energy, the upcoming Cirque Du Rave promises to be a "circus spectacle" where the performance is just as vital as the music. Following the success of the Shrek Rave, this new concept pushes the boundaries of what a party can look like.

Meanwhile, the K-Pop community has already made its voice heard. The K-Pop Takeover events are consistently selling out, proving that the genre’s local fanbase is hungrier than ever for immersive culture, choreography, and style.

Sognage: The unlikely home of the eclectic

While the events vary wildly in theme, they share a common home: Sognage. The venue has become the official base for Like It Love It’s Joburg residency.

"Sognage is just a really great and unique space to work in," says Williamson. "The lighting and overall vibe we can create with the team there really suits what we’re trying to do. Their team genuinely cares about the full experience, from start to finish."

What this means for Johannesburg

The commitment from Like It Love It signals a shift in the city's cultural landscape. Johannesburg isn't just a stop on a tour; it’s becoming a hub for niche, high-concept entertainment that caters to everyone from toddlers to veteran ravers.

With many shows already hitting sold-out status, the message is clear: if you want a spot at the circus (or the rave), you’d better move fast.
