While the Marvel Universe deals in capes and comic lore, the ever-growing Marble Universe trades in luxury, design, and Joburg’s favourite hospitality experiences, and its next chapter is a five-star hotel at The Olympus in Sandton.

Marble Hospitality, the powerhouse behind some of the city’s most influential dining destinations, has officially announced its move into the hotel world. The Marble Collection Hotel, a 32-room luxury property inside the new Olympus Sandton development, marks the brand’s boldest expansion yet.

“This new hotel represents our vision to redefine luxury accommodation in South Africa,” says founder and partner Gary Kyriacou. “It’s the next evolution of the Marble brand, bringing our attention to detail, creativity, and experiential approach into hospitality at an entirely new level.”

Building the Marble Universe

Since opening its first restaurant in 2016, Marble Hospitality has built more than a portfolio; it’s shaped a lifestyle. Between Marble in Rosebank, the Cape Town outpost at the V&A Waterfront, the always-buzzing Saint and the ultra-glam Zioux in Sandton, plus the wildly successful Pantry by Marble, the group has rewritten what premium dining looks like in South Africa.

They’ve recently added events to their repertoire with the indulgent Marble Circus, and now, the move into luxury hotels feels like a natural next step in a universe that keeps expanding.

A strategic collaboration with the developers of Olympus Sandton

The Marble Collection Hotel is the result of a high-profile partnership with Tricolt Group, the developers behind the Olympus Sandton. Designed by ClarkeHopkinsClarke and dhk Architects, the mixed-use project is set to become a new landmark in Sandton Central, targeting a 4-Star Green Star rating and shaped around sustainable, future-forward living.

The hotel will occupy two full floors of Tower 2 (Apollo), positioned just under the penthouses. It joins Marble’s existing spaces in the building:

  • Marble Restaurant, perched on the 18th floor with sweeping 360-degree Sandton views
  • The Pantry by Marble, the curated ground-floor gourmet store that has redefined South Africa’s idea of convenience
  • A new breakfast and lunchtime eatery planned for the Athena tower’s ground floor

Luxury with a design pedigree

On interiors, Marble’s own Irene Kyriacou will lead the vision alongside celebrated designer Tristan du Plessis. Expect the brand’s signature design language: textured luxury, warm tones, curated art, and the kind of understated glamour that makes every space feel considered.

“We’ve always believed that hotels are the pinnacle of hospitality,” says Operations Director Dino Constantinou. “Once you get to the hotel, you’ve arrived.”

A flagship for what comes next

The Marble Collection Hotel won’t be a one-off. It will act as the flagship for what the group hints will become a series of Marble hotels, all carrying the same crafted hospitality philosophy that has earned them their place as one of Joburg’s most influential hospitality players.

With a 50/50 ownership model between Marble Hospitality and Tricolt, and Marble retaining full operational control, it’s clear the group’s ambitions extend far beyond dining. They’re building a hospitality empire, one stylish chapter at a time.

If the Marvel Universe has superheroes, the Marble Universe has something just as powerful: great taste, bold vision and the confidence to keep levelling up.

And Sandton is about to get its most exciting upgrade yet.
