Jozi, brace yourselves. This past weekend, YE (formerly Kanye West) teased a Johannesburg concert with a tweet… and then deleted it. Naturally, the city went into meltdown: hot takes, and a thousand “is this real?” questions flooded X. Well, calm your timelines, because Ticketpro has confirmed via Instagram that YE is officially coming to Ellis Park Stadium.
One of the most influential artists of our generation is bringing his iconic energy to South Africa on 13 December 2025. This isn’t just a concert; it’s history in the making. Expect a once-in-a-lifetime experience packed with his signature music, fashion, and larger-than-life performance.
Of course, not everyone is convinced yet: Instagram user @reggiemohlabi commented, “hope Kanye knows about this man 😔”, while @sarahjustineward pointed out that the poster isn’t really helping amid ongoing allegations. Ticketpro then deleted the post and created a new one with an image of the stadium (we're seeing a trend here). Either way, with both Ticketpro and Monyake Group tagged in the post, we’re hopeful that this concert is the real deal and that Jozi will get to witness history.
About the venue
Ellis Park Stadium, also known as Emirates Airline Park, is a historic Johannesburg landmark in the heart of Doornfontein. Opened in 1928 and extensively renovated over the years, the stadium now seats around 60,000 fans and is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere. Beyond rugby and football, Ellis Park has hosted legendary events including the 1995 Rugby World Cup Final and games during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, making it the perfect stage for a concert of this scale. It’s not just a venue, it’s a cultural icon, and soon, it will be home to one of the most anticipated music events in recent memory.

How to get tickets
Pre-registration is the first step to snagging tickets, and Ticketpro’s Instagram post made it clear: pre-register before 3 pm on 24 September 2025 to get exclusive access to the pre-sale, which runs from 9 am to 9 pm on 25 September 2025, with the public sale kicking off at 9 am on 26 September 2025. Tickets are available exclusively online at ticketpro.co.za
After a deleted tweet and teaser chaos (classic YE), we can finally relax… mostly. Now, someone tell him he can step off X and onto the stage at Ellis Park, because we’re more than ready for the main event.
