South Africa is blessed with diverse cultures, each with its own unique sound that not only unifies us but also allows audiences to connect deeply and appreciate the beauty of our diversity.

One event that captures this spirit is the Ziyakhala Mo Sun City event - a vibrant celebration of culture, talent and African languages. Rooted in storytelling through music, the event honours some of the country’s most iconic cultural artists who write and perform in their mother tongue.

Launched in 2025 at the iconic Sun City Super Bowl, the event set a high standard and aims to continue to shine the spotlight on South Africa’s rich musical heritage and the spirit of ubuntu that defines the nation.

The 2026 edition was officially launched on Friday, 20 March at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton. Members of the media, representatives from the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), and Sun City stakeholders gathered to hear what’s in store for this year’s event.
The MC of the event was none other than the talented Thobela FM's Poelano Setwaba, aka Madam Speaker, who brought energy and humour to the programme, keeping guests engaged throughout.

Attendees were also treated to live performances from artists such as DJ Kgotso M and the Setswana band, Encore. DJ Kgotso M got the crowd on their feet with an energetic set, while Encore delivered heartfelt Setswana romantic ballads that evoked nostalgia and love. Their performances of popular tracks like Ke Fela Pelo and Mphuthaphuthe had the audience singing along.

A key highlight of the launch was the reveal of the 2026 lineup, which features more than 10 legendary cultural artists set to perform during the June holidays.

What will be different this year?

Last year, organisers honoured legendary isicathamiya group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Organisers also announced that this year’s edition will expand its honours segment, celebrating even more musicians, as well as broadcasting legends from vernacular radio stations.

In addition to the main event, festival-goers can look forward to a full weekend of activities across Sun City. A special surprise element is also scheduled for Sunday, adding to the excitement.

Event Details

The event will take place on 27 June 2026 at the Sun City Super Bowl. Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy a diverse lineup of activities, including music, cultural cuisine, and unforgettable moments that celebrate the sounds and stories of Africa. Tickets can be purchased here

If last year's sold-out event and the launch is anything to go by, this year’s edition promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
