Commissioned by and shot at Leeds Art Gallery, Elín Jakobsdóttir’s new Super 8 short film ‘Eyes Cast’ silently weaves through the gallery building and focuses on two bronze busts by pioneering sculptor Jacob Epstein.
The film is presented with Jakobsdóttir’s new series of drawings and paper cut-outs ‘plumpe Denken Modalities’ – inspired by playwright Bertolt Brecht’s assertion that ‘plumpe Denken’, meaning ‘crude thinking’, is the thinking of great men – which convey the space where the mind and body meet with everyday objects.
