Solar eclipse in Leeds in March

In just a few weeks time, much of Leeds will be plunged into darkness for the most dramatic solar eclipse for years.

In fact 90% of the light from the sun is expected to be blocked on Fri Mar 20 and should last for a few hours. It will be the biggest of its kind since 1999. There won't be another total solar eclipse until 2026.

In Leeds, the eclipse will start at 8.28am, ending at 10.43am. Things will be at their darkest at 9.33am.
