Sandy Powell is Hollywood's reigning queen of costume design. Nominated for 12 Oscars, she’s won three times (for ‘Shakespeare in Love’, ‘The Aviator’, and ‘The Young Victoria’). This year she’s been nominated for two very different films. On a tiny budget with six-weeks to prep she rustled up the gorgeous 1950s costumes in ‘Carol’. On Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ she had two years to create Cinders’s blue ballgown – using three miles of hem and more than 10,000 Swarovski crystals.
