Captain's Quarters Riverside Grille says
Captain's Quarters will host its second annual Pumpkin Chunkin' for Cancer on Sunday, October 30th from 1 - 6pm. The event raises money for 2 local non-profits, Twisted Pink and Hope Scarves. It will features a wide range of children and adult activities and is free to attend.

After Melissa Masterson, the wife of managing partner Andrew Masterson, was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2015, Andrew's family was touched so graciously by both organizations. After some research, Andrew and Melissa recognized what great work both groups do for cancer research and they sought out a unique way to help Twisted Pink and Hope Scarves raise more money for their cause.

For a $10 donation, visitors can purchase a pumpkin, write a personal message on it and have it launched into the river via a Trebuchet in an attempt to hit a floating target 50,75 and 100 yards away. If the guests pumpkin hits the target, they will receive a gift certificate donated from area restaurants. 100% of the money raised from the pumpkin sales will go to the charities. Last year’s event was wildly successful and raised over $7,000.

“It is so wonderful to see local business owners get creative with fundraising ideas for charity," says Twisted Pink Founder Caroline Johnson, "and we are so thankful for Captain's Quarters and the Masterson Family for this unique family friendly and fun event."

The event will feature live music, face painting, balloon artists, trick or treating on the docks, Boat Decorating contest, Bourbon & Wine sampling, and of course, Pumpkin Chunkin' by 3 area Trebuchet builders. Lunch and dinner service is available throughout the day, and 15% of the days sales in the restaurant will also go to the charities
