Jules delivers a refreshing view of anatomy and asana through a biomechanical lens in an easy to understand and applicable way that will immediately impact the way you move.

• About the structures of the body & how forces such as gravity, muscle contraction, adjustments, and props affect these structures - all of these forces place different levels of compression and tension (stretch) on certain areas of the body during an asana practice.
• How connective tissues & muscle tissue exhibit specific behaviors during a stretch and how they adapt to repeated mechanical stresses both acutely (short term) and chronically (long term).
• Practical Applications that will influence all areas of your teaching, from improving individual client assessments to designing more effective group classes.

Jules Mitchell, M.S., yoga therapist and exercise scientist,
combines the tradition of yoga with her education in biomechanics to help people move better. Her skill-based approach to movement increases strength and range of motion through deliberate and progressive exercises.

Jules extensively researched the science of stretching for her Master’s Thesis Project which she is currently editing for publication. In the meantime, she educates the public about stretching through her blog. Jules is also a popular contributor to Yoga Teacher Training programs nationwide, providing Yoga Schools with the most current research in her field. You can find her leading workshops at your favorite local studio or teaching classes online.
