Kari shares a little about Ayurveda...
The sanskrit word, Ayurveda, can be translated as, “the science of longevity”. It is an ancient spiritual wisdom, and holistic system of knowledge. Rishis, sages living in an early era in the development of humankind, transferred each morsel of this wisdom, which they “heard” in deep states of meditation, into treatises, known as the Vedas. Prior to around 500BC, vedic teachings were memorized as melodious poetic verses, sutras, passed from teacher to student with rhythm, cadence, and intention. Today the resonant knowledge of Ayurveda still pulses in our minds and bodies, it is our guide, our “Inner Physician”. Our own healthful nature sings in this way, in rhythm with mother nature, responding to our yearning for empowered lives of peace, health, and freedom from suffering.

Bio-Energetic philosophies arising in our current time, have roots in Ayurveda, which recognizes the energetic essence of each tree, plant, herb, root and flower, all of the vegetable and mineral worlds, and human and cosmic nature as one. The knowledge absorbed by the Rishis is available in very detailed form. The treatises are voluminous, holding expert guidance in the eight limbs of Ayurvedaʼs healing tree, all prefigured
before modern medicine: internal medicine, surgery, eye-ear nose-throat, obstetrics/ gynecology/pediatrics, toxicology, psychology (including treatment by ritual), rejuvenation and virilization. Ayurveda also takes into account the astrological and ancestral nature of each individual.

This timeless knowledge accepts that anything in existence can become medicine; that the first cure is removal of the cause, for which the person with the illness must search. Prevention and treatment address cause in its reality, not merely surface effects, or symptoms. The matter at the heart of healing is discovered anew in each situation, by healer and patient together, in time and space, and in unity with the elements and forces of nature.

I look forward to learning with you, Kari
