GROUNDED, artist statement by S. Nelson:
While traveling on some almost-deserted highways through the hills of south eastern Texas in the spring of ‘07 , I was awed by the menagerie of textures, structures and green spaces far removed from the crowded cities and flat planes of previous adventures. With these new sites I quickly became a fan of Texas, urging my friend to pull over whenever my eye caught something of interest. With my inexpensive camera I snapped shots all weekend to remember the beauty so raw, so artistic, yet organically placed by time and circumstance and I always meant to “show” them someday.

Then years went by and circumstances of illness took over and the “show” along with all aspects of life went on hold, in limbo, uncertain of how to move forward, yet still moving with plans to prevail... I am almost there and finally feel a sense of being “grounded” - in tune with self and nature. Now is the time to share the scenes of Texas and the joy in the next chapters of life!

A portion of proceeds of this show to benefit this next chapter....
