Carmichael's Bookstore says
Join us for the second annual Independent Bookstore Day, a day set aside to celebrate the special relationship between indie bookstores and their communities! Stores will be offering special activities, limited-edition one-of-a-kind merchandise, and unique giveaways.

Carmichael’s, Louisville's oldest independent bookstore, will be celebrating with a multi-store scavenger hunt, a book-signing and small bites with Louisville’s own Chef Edward Lee at noon, followed by a literary-themed refreshment hour from 7PM to 9PM with Bar Belle Sara Havens. Sara and Ed's events will both be at the Frankfort Avenue store. Carmichael’s Kids will host a Curious George story and snack time at 10:30AM, a literary snack time at 2PM, and other family-friendly activities. Additionally, with every purchase at any Carmichael’s on April 30th, customers can enter to win two free tickets to the store’s June 12th event, An Evening with Stephen King.

Following the tradition of Independent Record Store Day, indie bookstores will offer exclusive merchandise created just for Independent Bookstore Day by major publishers and authors. The items include unique books signed by popular authors, literary artwork, a vinyl record and other cool items that will only be sold at independent bookstores.

To add to the special items available nationally, Carmichael's will offer its own unique one-of-a-kind collectible: a Larkspur Press limited-edition, signed broadside of Wendell Berry's essay from the book My Bookstore: Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Read, Browse, and Shop
