Lettersong Presents Layout & Design W/ Peter Thornton says
We are truly fortunate to be having a visit with Peter @ Lettersong. Below is his discription of our weekend workshop in April. which is a two day workshop, Sat April 2-Sunday April 3 9-4, door @ 8 am. let me know if you would like to study with this iconic instructor, asap, I posted only a couple of photos and already have two students. Even if you have studied with him before there is huge benefit to take a layout and design class with someone who knows what he is talking about! . I am also sure it will be a great opportunity to see and maybe purchase a few of his most recent works. call me Lettersong Calligraphy Studio/Gallery with any questions.
Good Layout will support indifferent lettering......
But good lettering will not support indifferent Layout.

L and D is often considered by many to be the weakest part of their work. One reason may be the confusion of the Functional - with its need for logic and order and the more Contemporary or 'Painterly' that requires a more intuitive approach.

In this w/shop, for all levels of ability, we shall clarify (and combine) our intentions to produce work that has both the Freedom (the risk) and the Discipline (the safe).
In many exercises we shall focus on the 5 or 6 key factors of Contrast that when brought together will give us a more dynamic quality, that important 'spark', of Visual Interest.

A feature of the class is to work on, and finish, either a text of your choosing (say 15 to 30 words ?) or one of the many I shall bring.
