Scientific Proofs are timely discussions on mature science topics led by a wide variety of area scientists, leaders, and professionals. Most events are 21+ and all are FREE… minus the drinks!

THIS MONTH'S THEME:
Not all Lead is Created Equal: molecular technology that neutralizes the poisonous effects of lead to reverse our toxic history.

After a century of intense use of poisonous lead compounds in paint and fuel, the toxic, but invisible legacy is now known to be an even greater environmental health hazard in buildings and soil than previously acknowledged. Join John Cullen of LockUpLead to learn of new medical and environmental research and EPA scientific reviews of technologies developed in Louisville that are now being applied as "medicine for sick buildings and soil" around the country to finally cure cities of this leading environmental disease. "Unlike Midas, we aren't turning lead into gold, but close," says John as a teaser to come and learn more.

John will share insights from research partners in public health, neurology, soil science, toxicology, criminology, and geology to reveal what is now understood about lead's mysterious role in past and current epidemics of crime, attention disorders, academic underachievement, and even early dementia. Participants will see a hands-on chemistry display of new technology and receive free kits to repeat the experiment themselves at home.
