Spalding At The Speed: A Third Friday Writers’ Gala

Spalding University’s Master of Fine Arts in Writing Program joins the Speed Art Museum for “Spalding at the Speed: A Third-Friday Writers' Gala," a monthly reading series that showcases short readings by Spalding MFA students, alumni, staff, and faculty, as well as writers from the local literary community. The evening opens with “Jump Start,” an open-mic session for 1 to 2 minute readings of works in progress. Attendees are invited to bring unfinished works to read. Free and open to the public.

Karen Mann is cofounder and Administrative Director of the low-residency MFA Program in Writing and Spalding University and author of two novels, The Woman of La Mancha and The Saved Man: The First Century.

Nana Lampton is the director of American Life Insurance Co and the author of the poetry collection The Moon with the Sun in her Eye.

Alan Naslund is the author of the poetry collection Silk Weather and numerous plays, most notably Storm Pattern.

Adam Day is coordinator of the Baltic Writing Residency in Latvia, Scotland, and the Bernheim Research Forest and Arboretum, and the author of the poetry collection, Model of a City in Civil War.

Kristen Miller is the Director of Operations and Outreach at Sarabande Books. Kirby Gann is the Managing Editor of Sarabande Books and author of three novels, Our Napoleon in Rags, The Barbarian Parade, and Ghosting, as well as co-editor of the anthology A Fine Excess: Contemporary Literature at Play.
