St Patrick's Day Social Dance Party

This Saturday will be a fun Hustle lesson with Mel Lafferty from the University Ballroom (formerly Arthur Murray Dance Studio) at 7:15pm. Mel is a seasoned teacher and studio owner with great personality and a love of dance. We are happy that Damian Pataluna will be with us for the evening DJ-ing and showing us his music collection. Damian, with his partner Irina Morozova, are the current United States Amateur Nine Dance Champions and have held that title for four years. He has also held that title with Nadia Frankforter one time. Damian and Irina also have won the Novice American Smooth title in 2010 and the Pre/Championship Smooth title in 2014. As well as being a great Amateur dancer Damian has a great love for music and will share some of his selections with us Saturday. Then at 9:15pm Andrew and Lena Mistratov will do a lovely Standard Waltz. Andrew and Lena have been competing in the International Standard since 2010 and were National Champions in 2012 in the Senior 1 and Senior 2 Bronze and Silver Standard, so four Nationals titles that year. They were second in the Senior Gold in 2013 and 2014 moving up a level to compete Gold those years. Justin Chiou and Jackie Zhang will perform a lively American Style Tango. Thank you amateur couples for agreeing to demonstrate. They are both preparing for the USA Dance Nationals the last weekend of March in Baltimore. Good Luck. We would like to thank Jane Blum for offering to make creme de menthe brownies and sugar cookies in various colors of green dipped in white chocolate. Also, Randy Bowman will make guacamole to bring to the dance. We do appreciate them helping our local chapter.
