Entre el cielo y la tierra (Between Heaven and Earth)

In a year where El Greco is the undisputed star of painting exhibitions, we welcome this type of show, which goes beyond the artist himself and turns the focus on the influence he had on painters to come. 'Between Heaven and Earth. Twelve glances at El Greco four hundred years later' focuses on a group of contemporary artists and the mark that Doménikos Theotokópoulos left on their work.

The artists in this show openly share their connection to El Greco, a recognition that is sometimes explicit in their careers, and sometimes less obvious but just as intense. Works by JJosé Manuel Broto, Jorge Galindo, Pierre Gonnord, Luis Gordillo, Secundino Hernández, Cristina Iglesias, Carlos León, Din Matamoro, Marina Núñez, Pablo Reinoso, Montserrat Soto and Darío Villalba come together with that of El Greco, represented by 'San Jerónimo', a painting from the collection of Museo de la Academia. Joan Fontcuberta also collaborates in the exhibition.
