It's a weekend for soul, funk, blues, groove, and memories of Otis Redding, James Brown and that Motown sound. Madrid Matadero hosts this festival of black power, where you're invited to enjoy, dance and let it all hang out over two full days. This year's stellar line-up includes performances by Ronnie Spector, the amazing voice that led The Ronettes in the '60s; British ska group The Selecter; American artist P.P. Arnold, an artist in her own right who sang backup for the likes of Ike & Tina Turner back in the day; Joe Bataan & The Barrio Boys; French artist Gaspard Royant; and local Madrid outfit Anaut, among others.
