Busted announce Manchester show for 2016

More than ten years after splitting up, Busted have reformed and announced a UK tour for 2016 with a date in Manchester.

The boyband, known for their cheesy guitar-based pop hits, will be calling at Manchester Arena on Saturday May 21 as part of their reunion tour.

Two of the members, Matt Willis and James Bourne, teamed up with fellow pop act McFly for a joint tour as McBusted in recent years although frontman Charlie Simpson declined to take part as he was working on material with his other group Fightstar and a solo album.

It looks like things didn’t work out for Charlie on his own as the reunion he vowed would never happen has been confirmed. Back in 2011 he made his stance very clear when he said: ‘I want to make it unequivocally clear that I have no interest whatsoever in rejoining Busted and I never will’.

Whatever his reasons for the change of heart, he’s got back together with his former bandmates and the group, now all in their 30s, will be visiting Manchester to play songs such as ‘What I Go To School For’, ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Air Hostess’.

Nostalgia fans and lovers of teen tunes can get their tickets from 9am on Friday morning.

Busted, Saturday May 21, Manchester Arena.
