Wedding season is now in full swing, and if the multitudes of invitations have encouraged you to start planning your own big day, have a look at some of these quirky venues from across Greater Manchester.

Central Library
Book lovers rejoice – who wouldn’t want to get married in a library? Central Library is one of the city’s most iconic buildings and is looking better than ever after its multi-million pound refurbishment so would definitely make a day to remember. But it doesn’t come cheap – the entire day will set you back £15k.

Concorde
Concorde once carried monarchs, presidents and the rich and famous across the world at supersonic speeds of more than twice the speed of sound. Although the fleet has been retired for more than a decade, one of the aircraft now resides at Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park and is fully-licensed for wedding ceremonies. Your day can take off with the happy couple exchanging vows on board before cruising to your wedding breakfast underneath the wings of iconic plane – and forget the airline food! Packages cost from £12,000.

Museum of Science and Industry
From planes to trains – MOSI’s wedding offer includes a ceremony in the Station Master’s House, drinks on the platform of the world’s oldest passenger railway station and transport to your reception on a replica steam locomotive.

Victoria Baths
Make a splash on your wedding day at the stunning Victoria Baths. Now restored to its former glory, this quirky and memorable venue hosts a variety of events and occasions including wedding ceremonies. And don’t worry about spoiling your wedding attire – the pools have been drained! This photo gallery shows the venue in its full glory.

Ordsall Hall
This is one for the history buffs and ghost hunters out there. Grade I-listed and tracing its history back more than 700 years, Ordsall Hall is one of Salford’s hidden gems and offers civil ceremonies and drinks receptions (although not full wedding breakfasts). It’s said to be haunted by at least three ghosts and the Great Hall is one of the largest, open, timber framed halls in the North West, so it’ll be sure to provide you with the wow factor.

The Old Parsonage
If you’re looking for a more intimate ceremony, The Old Parsonage in Didsbury is tucked away within private gardens close to Fletcher Moss Park. For couples who want more freedom over their big day, you’re able to choose your own caterers and suppliers – and the venue will even allow your guests to bring their own drinks.

Old Trafford and the City of Manchester/Etihad Stadium
Footie fans from both the red and the blue sides of the city can choose to spend their big day at their team’s home ground with Manchester’s stadiums both offering wedding packages. Could be a great way to kick off married life?

Hallé St Peters
If you’re looking to tie the knot in a church but without the religious ceremony, then Hallé St Peters could be for you. Fresh from its recent appearance on BBC Three’s ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ (where it was used for a Guns’N’Roses ‘November Rain’ inspired ceremony complete with tribute band), Hallé St Peters offers civil wedding ceremonies in a historic Victorian former church within the heart of Ancoats.
