Best vegan restaurants in Manchester

Vegan fine dining arrived in the city centre in late 2018 after Allotment in Stockport’s astonishing reviews and flurry of awards prompted them to move. The locally sourced food in this tasteful restaurant is the type of experience that would make the most hardened meat-eater’s taste buds pop. If you’re feeling adventurous, treat yourself to the ten-course taster.

A fantastic addition to the Manchester vegan trend was a handily located café in town close to the Royal Exchange so, as well as cakes and coffees, proper fry-up breakfasts, brunches and evening meals, they do pre-theatre dining too. Good wines and beers plus a takeaway and delivery service if you can’t stop.

At last, a pizza joint in Manchester that's entirely, 100%, yes we mean the wine too, vegan. And oh my goodness does it all taste good. The menu offers a fine selection of pizzas plus lasagne and the like, and a great choice of sides - the dough balls are huge. Don't worry when you see things like 'crumbled sausage' as a topping, you're in totally plant-based territory. Added bonus? You can bring your dog.

Changing perceptions of what a vegan meal can be, V-Rev is an American-style diner that looks like it’s come right out of a 1950s teen film. The burgers drip all manner of tangy sauces over your fingers, the fries are loaded, the dogs are hot, the mac is (vegan) cheesy and the sandwiches are stacked with goodies. It’s dirty food, but not as you know it.

When you think of vegan food you (probably) don’t automatically think about a former kebab shop, but this small and friendly Indian place made the leap in !018 and hasn’t looked back. A choice of delicious curries, wraps, burgers and the like, there’s a limited amount of sit- down, eat-in space so it’s perfect for a takeaway.

Already well-established in London and Brighton, The Vurger-Co bring their 100% plant-based delights to the north. And it's not just the delicious food that's got a taste of the ethical about it, with all of the packaging used being plant-based too. It's the kind of mouth-watering stuff that makes the hardiest of meat-eaters look incredulous at what they can taste. Start off with the stunning New York Melt and you'll be going back for more. And more.

Can't help but crave a juicy burger?
