Back in May, Manchester arts centre HOME launched Homeground, a new outdoor space at the side of the iconic city-centre venue.

A visit there immediately became one of the best things to do in Manchester, adding a new stage for exciting theatre work, increasing the outdoor food and drink offer in Manchester and generally cheering the city up with a great set of events at a time when there was a bit of a dirge of such things.

Having gone from strength to strength, Homeground continues to present an eclectic programme so, if you like your entertainment al fresco, here are our top 5 things to do at Homeground this summer.

Manchester has never been short of a DJ or 2 and one of our very best, DJ Paulette, shines a spotlight on them with Together, her curated programme of DJ nights. Every weekday evening on the Homeground stage, Manchester's musical styles are represented via the eclectic likes of Clint Boon to Abigail Ward via DJ Paulette herself.

As far from a shrinking violet as you could get, David Hoyle hasn't spent lockdown taming their anger, wit and outrage. At last, David calls for rebellion in a show guaranteed to remind us why this Manchester legend deserves to at the top of everyone's list of LGBTQ+ performers.

Presented by the folks at Hope Mill, this should put the spring very much back in your step if you feel you've been deprived of a good show tune or two for the last year. Why see one musical when you see highlights from all of your favourites? This is an evening celebrating the history of the musical starring some of the West End's finest. Camp? Let's hope so.
