The Change Project says
LGBTQ identified youth use the Internet as a knowledge source about coming out. While coming out is extremely difficult and a lifelong process, having access to people that have gone through that while living in a rural area within the southeast and midwest is difficult. Our Voices Matter will host stories from people in those communities in hopes that youth will not commit suicide or inflict self-harm. Our Voices Matter is an online interactive storytelling campaign that focuses on all experiences within the queer identity spectrum using the images that we have collected so far. Our Voices Matter will allow users to upload their story in whatever medium they are most comfortable with.

More and more, LGBTQ individuals have turned to the internet to seek out resources when exploring identities and undergoing the coming out process. In an instant, one can access the advice and solace of fellow community members through forums, blogs, and video series. For many people in rural or traditionally conservative areas, online resources are the only resources in existence. We hope to host stories from people in these communities in an effort to reach and find community with those we do not have any physical proximity to and to give the people in these communities stories that feel more authentic to their experiences. My Pronouns Matter focuses specifically on trans, gender non-conforming and queer identities.
