Join us for the University of Memphis’ annual Hohenberg Chair of Excellence in Art History talk.

Legend has it that the ancient Chinese ruler, Yu the Great cast nine dings during his reign, symbolizing the nine states of ancient China. Thereafter, the nine dings became the most important ritual articles of the country.

Elizabeth Childs-Johnson has published extensively on two important periods in Chinese history, the Jade Age and Bronze Age and is currently finishing a book, "The Shang Bronze Age: Religion and Art."
