Only Black and White

Drawings by Carl E. Moore

“Only Black and White” consist of 5 drawings on paper that deal with an ongoing conversation about how we exist in our personal space with emphasis on how, where and the way we live. I chose the title Only Black and White because I wanted to reference the use of negative and positive space in the work. This also parallels the artwork as it relates to cultural, situational and stereotypical differences in our environment and how we deal with these discrepancies on a daily basis.

Desperately Seeking Attention

Paintings by Carl E. Moore

“Desperately Seeking Attention” consists of 5 abstract paintings on paper and canvas. This body of work addresses the same conversation as the series of b/w drawings about how we exist in our personal space with emphasis on how, where and the way we live. Instead of focusing on the negative and positive space in the black and white drawings, the use of color deals with the emotional side of the work and the characters in their given space. The artwork takes a look at unexpected events that take place on a day to day basis and how we adjust to these occurrences.
