Broken Shaker

The Broken Shaker at everyone’s favorite high-end hostel, The Freehand, started as a pop-up cocktail bar before becoming something more permanent—and its success as a mainstay kicked off the Mid-Beach neighborhood’s renaissance. Inside, the tiny award-winning bar is like the love child of New Orleans and Paris, while the outdoor courtyard and poolside area feel very Eden: old-school fountain, mismatched and wildly patterned chairs, lush trees. The cocktail list changes every 10 days based on what’s fresh, and most ingredients are grown or made on the property. The drinks skew tropical and tiki, but the bartenders are fully equipped to serve anything you request. The brains behind the Shaker also oversee the food and beverage program at 27 Restaurant, the neighboring eatery located inside a quintessential Florida house from the 1930s.

I'd been to the Chicago Broken Shaker many times, so I was excited to check out the original. I was there at night time, so I would like to go back during the day. The drinks were excellent and the service was great too

I hadn't been to this place in a couple of years and my, it's still so fun! There's a vegetable garden where the ping-pong table once was (how very 2016) and efficient table service—a nice change from the laid-back (read: slow) waiters one used to encounter. Also, the drinks. BarLab just keeps getting better and better at making cocktails, which also happen to be affordable, even by mainland standards. One thing that hasn't changed is the Miami heat, making fall through spring the best time to check out this outdoor, poolside bar.

Good ambiance good people. It's cool and relax there. Get the cocktail and forget the wine there ahah
