Time Out says

If the friendly staff’s snazzy, brightly patterned uniforms at Andaz Miami Beach are any clue, you know you’re in for a fun-loving vacation at this stylish newcomer. Set in the ever-trendy Mid-Beach Miami neighborhood, just north of South Beach, the 287-room oceanfront hotel is the Andaz brand’s first Florida property, and it totally gets Miami. A casual-cool tone is set at check-in, where guests are led to the living room-style lobby, offered a welcome cocktail (or mocktail), and checked in while lounging.

The laidback check-in offers a moment to drink in the lobby’s striking design details. The hotel is intentionally free of straight lines, with architectural details like arched doorways, soft, curvy furniture, and low-profile furnishings in the lobby which allow the pool and ocean to take center stage from the windows. A visual reminder to switch into vacation mode—though that might be the cocktail’s job.

Why stay at Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt

You’re close enough to party-centric South Beach—a 10-minute drive away—but far enough away to feel the beach chill. You’re also staying in a piece of history: the landmark property was one of the first Art Deco skyscrapers in Miami, with rooms and suites spread across three distinct buildings (look up: the radio tower that was used in World War II still sits atop the hotel).

While the hotel has lived several lives under different brands since opening in the 1940s, Andaz has wiped it clean of the last hotel’s aesthetic, and every inch is now a photo-worthy backdrop. Coastal tones are subtly mixed with modernist flair, from the lobby’s tulip-shaped columns and jellyfish-like dangling lights, to the guest hallways’ carpeting that looks like you’re walking on water. But the main attraction? That’s the turquoise-tinged waters just beyond the doors.

Guests can hop between two palm-fringed pools, and the beach set-up with orange-and-white-striped umbrellas that match the hotel’s cheerful personality. Oh, and with lauded chef José Andrés name attached to the restaurants and bars, there’s little reason to leave if you’re staying a night or two.

What are the rooms like at Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt?

They’re dreamy, with a variety of room and suite sizes spread throughout the three buildings, many of which can be connected for families and large groups. Each space features sea-and-sand-inspired textures and hues that break away from Florida’s typical coastal aesthetics. My one-bedroom ocean-front suite felt like I’d stepped into a mid-century apartment, with more of the hotel’s curvy furniture, light wood accents, and a plush couch and chair set in front of a big TV (the room’s thick turquoise rug was so beautiful, I actually asked the staff where I could buy one).

The stylish bedroom was a den of quiet relaxation, and the bathroom was equally lavish with its stone vanity and Byredo bath products. Thoughtful in-room perks like a Nespresso machine, cozy robes and an Andaz beach bag to use during your stay, made it feel even more luxe.

What are the best things to eat and drink at Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt?

The José Andrés Group runs the on-property restaurants, so you know you’re in good culinary hands. Aguasal, the Mediterranean restaurant with Latin flair, is open for breakfast and dinner (and it’s another visual beauty). I enjoyed a healthy breakfast on the outdoor terrace each morning, listening to the sounds of the nearby water features, and for dinner, highlights included a perfectly cooked cobia fish, refreshing watermelon and feta salad, and crispy oyster mushrooms with whipped hummus. That said, I think the culinary bar will reach another level once The Bazaar by José Andrés opens in late 2025.

At Bar Centro, just off the lobby, drinks are often delivered tableside with theatrics, like the boozy Golden Vector, which releases anise and cedar smoke that fills the air with the cozy scent of a fireplace. For something light and refreshing, sip their upgraded version of an aperol spritz (the Ciao Bella) made interesting with cava and pineapple juice. Oh, and if you’re a devoted fan of Jose Andrés’ bechamel chicken croquetas, this is the place to devour them.

What is the service like at Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt?

Like any new hotel, there are wrinkles to iron out, but the staff are working hard to make guests’ stay perfect. Someone immediately came to check and fix our air conditioning when we thought it wasn’t cooling properly, and everyone we encountered had a how-can-we-help attitude and fun dispositions that match their happy uniforms, especially at the pool.

What are the pool, gym and spa like at Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt?

While spas can be ‘meh’ in Miami Beach, Ondara Spa was so decadently relaxing that I went back twice during my stay. It mirrors the rest of the hotel’s good looks, with tranquil sandy hues and a beautifully designed relaxation room, complete with contoured chairs meant for a delicious snooze. The outdoor terrace, with its ocean views, should be your perch after a treatment.

After noticing the knotted mess in my neck and shoulders, the massage therapist changed my scheduled relaxing massage to an intense deep-tissue rubdown that left no muscle or tendon untouched.

This is a beach vacation, so make a beeline for a lounger under their bright orange umbrellas or spend the day getting a Miami-worthy tan at either of the two pools, dotted with turquoise umbrellas and fringed by palm trees. The pool servers are attentive with a fun-loving attitude, though I did find myself wishing for more shade and privacy (there are no covered cabanas).

You gotta love a brand-new hotel with a brand-new, spotless gym—the kind where the equipment gleams without a scratch and the space still smells fresh. Peloton fans will be ecstatic to find a bike to keep up their routine, and class junkies will appreciate the outdoor terrace for yoga, mat Pilates and more group fitness.

What’s the area like around Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt?

The beach and ocean are your backyard, and the hotel also backs up to the popular boardwalk which extends all the way to South Beach. It’s the perfect place to get in a morning jog or a scenic beachfront walk. The hotel sits directly in front of 41st Street (Arthur Godfrey Road), the main thoroughfare that connects the beach to the mainland, making it easy to reach top neighborhoods like the Wynwood Arts District and the Miami Design District. Mid-Beach is dotted with other trendy hotels, and you’re within walking distance to Soho Beach House and restaurants like Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann.

Why you should you book a stay at Andaz Miami Beach, By Hyatt

Inviting and fun, Andaz Miami Beach delivers a low-key beach vacation that’s close enough to South Beach, yet far enough away for some peace and quiet. When The Bazaar by Jose Andrés opens, the culinary scene will be an even bigger reason to stay. The hotel is ideal for couples, friend groups and families—anyone looking for a beachfront escape with style and personality.
