This party institution sometimes has a whiff of the frat house about it, as evidenced by its oceanfront bar, which features three bars, a swimming pool and a constantly buzzing stage where female dance contests and body painting are known to regularly break out. But it’s all good fun. There’s also a funky lounge bar, roof deck and slick sports bar to go with the minimalist rooms. But don’t be fooled by the boutique rebranding: the website remains chock-a-block with bikini babes. The art deco Essex Hotel (1001 Collins Avenue, at 10th Street; 1-305 534 2700, www.essexhotel.com) around the corner is owned by the same group, but with less of a party atmosphere.
