Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel
Time Out says
Look past the humdrum exterior to discover a stylishly decorated Sheraton near an 18-hole golf course
Despite its location right next to the airport, this Sheraton doesn’t look like yet another chain hotel. OK, the exterior might be a little plain, but the interior is anything but: Aqua accent walls, mustard-yellow armchairs and millennial pink accents really pop against the stark white paint, flooring and bedding. You’ll find all the usual amenities—an 1,800-square-foot fitness center, outdoor pool and business center—plus an 18-hole golf course right across the street. Have a meal in the on-site restaurant or bar or order room service. When it’s time to leave, the 24-hour airport shuttle and express check-out service makes your trip home seamless.
Neighborhood: Although the hotel’s immediate vicinity is dominated by rental car lots and fast food, it’s not far from the vibrant neighborhood of Little Havana. The area boasts incredible Cuban food, popping Latin music clubs and vibrant mom-and-pop shops.
Azucar Ice Cream Company: For inventive ice cream flavors like vanilla with Maria crackers, guava and cream cheese
Union Beer Store: For the rotating selection of local, American-made and internationally brewed suds
Bay of Pigs Museum: For a look at the invasion through historic memorabilia and ephemera
Time Out tip: You can’t visit Little Havana without making a pilgrimage to Versailles, one of the city’s most iconic restaurants and a landmark in its own right. Ropa vieja, cubanos, seafood paella, flan: Versailles does all of it impeccably. Settle into a booth in the mirrored dining room, order up a Cuban feast and take in the ambiance—you won’t find anything like it anywhere else.
