Boho Miami’s former home reopens as open-air nightclub AIRE this week

Boho Miami has left the building, but its Edgewater address won’t be quiet for long. AIRE opens tonight, giving the former Boho space a new name, a new DJ booth and a fresh excuse to stay out late.

The open-air nightclub and lounge will focus on deep, rhythmic and soulful house and electronic music. Its public preview on tonight features local DJs, followed by Gab Rhome tomorrow, September 25. Steve Lawler takes over Saturday, September 26, with his Pendulum party. If you’re curious about the new room, opening weekend offers three chances to get acquainted.

Boho closed after six years at the address, wrapping up with parties last week. AIRE keeps the space’s open-to-the-sky feel while adding a new bar, moving the DJ booth and updating the menu and décor. The team says the music will guide each night, with resident DJs and visiting acts rotating through the calendar.

Owner Jorge Moreno is behind the change, joined by Louis Puig, who created Club Space, and partners Aramis Lorie, Travis Rogers and John Fortini. Moreno says Boho had a good run, but he felt its look had become too familiar.

“Boho had a great six years, but the bohemian aesthetic became one of the most borrowed looks in hospitality,” Moreno said. “When a look becomes that familiar, the honest move is to stop repeating it rather than ride it down.”

The real test of any nightclub makeover, of course, comes after the opening weekend crowd goes home and the regulars decide whether to return. AIRE already has a weekly plan: starting Wednesday, September 30, it will operate Wednesdays through Saturdays for guests 21 and older. Wednesdays will include collaborations with groups such as Pitch Park and Afrotek. Thursdays bring a Ladies’ Night with complimentary drinks for women until midnight, while Fridays and Saturdays will feature rotating groups and established DJs.

That schedule gives the venue a chance to develop beyond a single splashy debut. Some guests will remember the address as Boho; others may walk in knowing only the DJ on the bill. Either way, they’ll find a room under the Miami sky with a different name above the door.

AIRE opens today at 111 NE 20th Street in Edgewater; its first guest DJ performances follow on Friday and Saturday.
