The Umbrella Sky Project may have left us and our Instagram feeds back in September but there’s a new installation in Coral Gables here to replace it: the nearly 12,000-square-foot Sunlit Sky.

This flashy golden piece will occupy Giralda Plaza–the same street that housed those colorful umbrellas a few months ago. Sunlit Sky will be a similar concept, minus the umbrellas. The installation consists of over 25,000 gold and silver strips that hang overhead on a mesh net, waving in the wind and creating a beautiful (and very Christmas-appropriate) scene.

Sunlit Sky officially opens to the public this Friday, December 14, with a party from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. The city will say a few words, photos will be snapped and there will be live music courtesy of Jackie Mendez. Can’t make it tomorrow? It’s okay. We know you’re busy. It‘s the holidays. Take a deep breath.

Thankfully, you’ll have until March 10 to make it to Giralda Plaza and see the piece yourself. And if you forget to tag us at @timeoutmiami we’re going to be very upset.
