Meet the huge Mexican restaurant coming to the new CocoWalk

If you’ve been in Coconut Grove recently, you’ve probably seen that CocoWalk is getting a badly-needed facelift. And while the retail complex in the heart of Coconut Grove might not look too pretty now, some very big developments are on the way, including the coworking company Spaces and—we just learned today—a brand new Mexican restaurant.

CocoWalk’s first official culinary tenant will be Los Generales Mezcal & Grill, a 7,500-square-foot Mexican restaurant led by Chef Aquiles Chavez, who’s served as a judge on Top Chef Mexico. This is the first United States location for Los Generales, which plans to serve bone marrow tacos, grasshopper guacamole and have one very, very big mescal selection. With indoor and outdoor dining and a prime location in the Grove, the place should be poised to do a pretty big business.

Right now, the restaurant is hoping to open in late 2019, so—sadly—you’ll have to wait a bit for your grasshopper guacamole and mescal cocktails. Here’s hoping the new CocoWalk (hopefully full of more tasty tenants) will make it worth the wait.
