Last October, Miami’s local Juggerknot Theatre Company invaded Little Havana’s historic Tower Hotel for the first installment of Miami Motel Stories, an immersive theater experience that sought to weave history and theater together to tell the story of an important Miami neighborhood. Audience members were free to wander from room to room, where a different narrative unfolded behind each door. Rum was involved. There was dancing. It was kind of a blast. The show was a big hit and even extended its run a couple extra weeks in Little Havana.

Now, Miami Motel Stories is gearing up for a second run in Miami’s MiMo neighborhood, taking over the old Gold Dust Motel (7700 Biscayne Boulevard). Guests will be able to choose which decade to explore by picking different colored keys. We recommend MiMo’s heyday during the ‘50s and ‘60s, when places like the Playboy Club (which was located at 77th Street and Biscayne Boulevard) made the area quite the glamorous and boozy destination. Approach the ’80s and ‘90s with caution, though.

Miami Motel Stories MiMo will run from November 30 to December 23 and tickets go on sale October 15 via miamimotelstories.com. The show sold out last year so we recommend grabbing your tickets early. Wear comfortable shoes. You won’t be sitting much during this performance.
