The newest architectural addition to PortMiami is pretty darn stunning—at least in its initial renderings. This week, Norwegian Cruise Line released plans for its proposed new terminal, a curvy nautilus-inspired building that will cost around $100 million.

Though it still has to pass a final approval from the Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners in April, the terminal is projected to be finished by fall 2019.

The new terminal, designed by Bermello Ajamil & Partners, will modernize Norwegian’s cruise experience in Miami. It aims to offer a smoother, more luxurious departure for cruisers as well as create a brand new landmark in Miami, the cruise capital of the world (in 2017, a world record 5.3 million people embarked on a cruise from Miami, per the Herald). The 166,500-square-foot terminal will consist of mostly glass.

Not to be left out of the building boom, Royal Caribbean should finish its own new terminal—an impressive angular structure—this November. And by next year, a drive down the MacArthur Causeway will call for some serious rubbernecking.
